    Position Summary:
    The Director of Workforce Development is a senior leadership role responsible for advancing the Chamber’s mission to strengthen the local talent pipeline, bridge workforce gaps, and support inclusive economic growth across Clayton County. This position is responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive workforce strategy that aligns with regional economic goals, employer needs, and community priorities. The role helps with developing and fostering strategic partnerships with employers and education partnerships, expanding current development and training initiatives, and driving opportunities that connect jobseekers to high-demand careers while aligning with regional business needs.
     
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a multi-year workforce development strategy focused on talent pipeline growth, job readiness, and workforce equity.
    • Program Oversight: Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of workforce programs, initiatives, and partnerships targeting youth, adults, and underserved populations.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate high-level partnerships with employers, educational institutions, training providers, government agencies, and community-based organizations.
    • Policy & Advocacy: Represent the organization on workforce councils, task forces, and legislative bodies; advocate for funding, infrastructure, and policies that support workforce development.
    • Revenue Development: Identify and secure diverse funding sources, including grants, sponsorships, and public/private investments to scale workforce programs.
    • Team Management: Supervise workforce development staff, contractors, and consultants; foster a results-driven, collaborative culture.
    • Labor Market Analysis: Monitor workforce trends and economic indicators to inform program development and regional competitiveness.
    • Reporting & Accountability: Ensure compliance with grant requirements, produce impact reports, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with organizational goals.
     Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Public Policy, Workforce Development, Business, Education, or a related field strongly preferred.
    • 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in workforce development, economic development, education, or a closely related sector.
    • Demonstrated success managing cross-sector partnerships and securing external funding.
    • Strong knowledge of workforce systems, labor market trends, and economic mobility strategies.
    • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills; capable of representing the Chamber in public forums.
    • Experience with grant writing, budget management, and program evaluation.
    • Familiarity with Chambers of Commerce, workforce boards, or economic development organizations preferred.
    Preferred Skills:
    • Familiarity with WIOA, Perkins V, and other federal workforce funding.
    • Knowledge of regional industry sectors and workforce demands.
     Work Environment & Schedule:
    • This role is based in Clayton County with regional travel as needed.
    • Some evening and weekend commitments are expected to support events and community engagement.
